#59 tech 2 years, 5 months, 25 days ago Btw, how committed are you to #scrum when working on a study plan/personal project? Me: just one sprint but every time there's a new task it gets added to the current sprint 😁Later, once it's deployed to https://remoteworker.id, I'll start disciplining the sprint. As a CEO, I use Pieter Lievels' main principle in developing a startup: lean. No need to add weird features if there's no demand. Don't keep fantasizing and adding features from that fantasy. Example: user signup. RWID from 2017/2018 to 2024 (ebuset 7 years) didn't have a special platform for signup. Just use Google Form. Why? It’s working. Revenue is good. Why the hazzle? Financial report too: google sheet. Why the need to build financial report coming from let say .. #nosql database? No need“Why start building the RWID platform now, Pak Eko?” Because I need to show my child an example of how busy a programmer is. For 10 years they've only known their dad as just a businessman 😁🙏The child is motivated, I teach #startup #building, then I arrange the curriculum for #yfid #youngfounderindonesia Indonesia must have teenage CEOs within around 3-5 years! #58 2 years, 5 months, 26 days ago But with a salary of 1.5 million at the time, I felt that was already a looot:- Could have a bicycle to ride around Jogja with my wife. 150k. - Could buy tongseng+goat satay once/month. 30k- Could rent a boarding room for 1 million/year- Meals were also covered Yeah, back then if I saw a MacBook White, it was just longing :) in

#56 2 years, 5 months, 29 days ago For me, going back to the beginnings of the #programming world is going back to #keyboard #ibmmodelm Around .. 2018 maybe yeah, I was kinda surprised seeing so much dev enthusiasm for #mecha popping up everywhere. I kept an eye on it, “Huh, aren't these like old keyboards? Turns out they're becoming popular now.” Checked around: the closest is #blueswitch. Clicky. But .. dunno. Something's missing. Learn more: this model m uses buckling spring. The springs are coiled like that. Started exploring .. oh, turns out there's still a community of ibm model m lovers. Long story short, it took years until I finally met one of the hobbyists who was still letting go of some of his model m collection. Of course: stock is limited and can't increase 🙏I feel luuucky to have 3 model M: 1. Rubber dome. This isn't spring yet. 2. New old stock. In this photo 3. Battlecruiser. F1 … F24 Passionate about the programming world, it brings me back to exactly the same as when I was still in awe at the very beginning. When I was still wearing a blue and white uniform Note: for those who want to try, please contact here https://lnkd.in/ghqC3PNj To be clear: there isn't much stock. I don't think there's even 10 in
#55 tech 2 years, 6 months ago This mindset of @sapelauu will come from two types of people: 1. Beginner (very much so) 2. Expert (very much so) There won't be any in between. Because, if someone is already an expert (meaning highly experienced with a lot of programming languages used), then they will know: memorizing function calls only existed in the '90s generation (very expert). Back then there was no other choice but to memorize functions from reference books. For example, what the difference in parameters is between the malloc() and calloc() functions. That had to be memorized 😅. That's why when document help appeared in the IDE (as simple as pressing CTRL+F1 in Turbo Pascal) .. wiih, we were incredibly happy. No need to flip through the thick C Libary References book. So the next possibility is that mas @sapelauu is still a beginner (very much so) who is just learning and was shocked to see the instructor googling. “Kid, that's how highly experienced programmers work” They focus on architecture, modularization and other high-level decisions. As for what the type of the fourth parameter is and what the function returns: let the machine do the work. Stackoverflow or Googling. In fact, that's now so last decade. Now that kind of grunt work has been taken over by #chatgpt. If just googling shocks you, what if I tell you that right now I'm fully developing the #rwid platform in a programming language I'm at 0 in .. namely Golang with 99.99% help from #chatgpt? Only 2 times did I have to revert to SO and Google. This AI era is no joke! Coding becomes 100x more fun! Anyway, distinguish Programming and Coding. Does anyone know the difference? :) https://lnkd.in/gSCU9fD7 in
#54 tech 2 years, 6 months, 3 days ago My passion in programming started around 1996: 2nd year of junior high school. The initial reason? Seeing the output of the DOS tree command: for some reason. But maybe the green phosphorous effect on that monochrome screen seemed mysterious and .. magical! For those who've never seen it, the matrix effect. The effect of glowing green phosphor characters fading away: that's not an effect. It's actually because the phosphor element on the screen needs time to fade. And the result was really impressive (though probably not good for eye health) Okay, let me list the chronology of programming languages I learned enthusiastically starting from that 2nd year of junior high school: 1. Batch file. Hoho: as simple as autoexec.bat, that was the beginning of programming, you know. 2. Basica / GW Basic / Microsoft Quick Basic: monkey.bas! 3. Turbo Pascal (high school): single and double linked list data structure :D 4. Turbo C/Borland C++ : Pak Tjendry Heriyanto's book FTW! 5. Java 1.1 : accidentally found it on a physics educational CD. It ended up becoming my life path.. 6. Delphi (college): just a little. Forced because I joined the MIPA UGM library project 7. Microsoft J++: It existed back then, you know. But Microsoft didn't continue it. Even though I liked it 8. Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0: I earned a lot of Rp. from this... 9. Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0: a joint project with Pusat Pariwisata UGM and Menristek. I learned it from 0 in a week: project completed! 10. Microsoft Visual Basic.NET: because I helped a UII student with their thesis. 11. Microsoft Visual C#/C++ .NET: many Upwork jobs I coded using C# 12. #php Code Igniter and #gtfw: come on, who knows gtfw? 13. #cocoa: OSX first remote job to Japan! Failed though. Couldn't be disciplined yet 14. #python. 2014: settle here and retired exploring new programming languages to focus on developing RWID 15. #golang (2024): #rwid needs its own platform. Coded by my own hand with the support of all RWID members 🙏It feels so exhilarating to code with my own hands. Anyway, for you who became programmers in 2024, it's already easy, you know. Forget googling. Ignore stackoverflow. Use ChatGPT. It is my loyal and intelligent assistant. Extremely intelligent. You just have to be good at giving intelligent questions. Prompt engineering#ai #chatgpt #promptengineering I'm recording the realtime development of the RWID platform here. I started from condition 0 in Golang https://lnkd.in/gdEycikf in
#47 3 years, 4 months, 3 days ago Guys, if there's a #bootcamp that guarantees you'll get remote work, try asking their CS: " Can it really know my destiny in the future?" They won't be able to answer, right? So that's just a marketing trick. With the words guaranteeing you'll get remote work, then you're willing to pay a lot, up to a steep amount. With the calculation: it can be paid once you get a job later." It's guaranteed, right?" No, not really. The guarantee comes with T&Cs. There may even be terms where if certain T&Cs aren't met, the registration fee won't be refunded. Just check it===A little reflection.RWID actually never had any guarantee words, just casual: join for around 1 million, follow the process. Already broken into remote work? Alhamdulillah. I am happy for you. Those who join for 500k, there are also those who get jobs paying up to 100 million/month. And that's their right. I am so happy for you! But then some started DMing me: a lot, really:" Sir, is this guaranteed to get a job?"" No. It all still depends on your effort" Besides, it's rude: join for around 1 million, and then asking to be guaranteed a job paying 30 million/month. That's just not fair, come on! I still want to insist there are no guarantee words. But good grief, so many people ask like that. Finally I researched: oh, there are lots of bootcamps that guarantee you'll get a job, huh. No wonder.OKAY THEN! I guarantee: 1. At first I followed the existing pattern: pay a lot upfront 26.5 million, if you don't break through within 6 months, I return 20 million. The 6.5 million can't be returned. Because that's production cost. 2. But somehow it didn't feel comfortable: really hard to put into bookkeeping. That 20 million can't be called revenue: because there's a risk it becomes debt. 3. Besides, it's really burdensome for registrants, right?SO THEN I changed it:" You join at 6.5 million. AND I GUARANTEE YOU'LL BREAK INTO REMOTE WORK!"" What if I don't break through, Pak Eko?"" You don't have to pay the next 20 million"" What if I break through?"" Please pay the remaining 20 million, according to your ability"" See what I did there? https://lnkd.in/gA2YNeGb https://lnkd.in/g8u-KWkj https://remoteworker.id#marketing #job #remotework in

#40 3 years, 6 months, 29 days ago In my opinion, a platform is the best business you can build to: " Be in the middle and benefit from the coming and going of your users" Example: Facebook. Users come, they get busy with status updates and then ... Facebook can sell their data to .. users who want to sell goods. Advertising business. This concept is what becomes the essence of the banking world: where banking brings together capital owners and capital users while making a profit from both sides. Banks that uphold the principles of the Sharia Economy should not actually rely solely on margin differences to make a profit. But they must also have business lines that can generate income, so that their funding can be easily offered to customers. It's just that, indeed, a model like this cannot be applied in banking, because of BI regulations. Well, BMT can be a solution by first establishing a Cooperative. #ekonomi #bisnis #funding #startup https://lnkd.in/gi9c5Dwt in

#38 3 years, 11 months, 27 days ago When Russia attacked Ukraine, at that time the world was afraid. And, when afraid, humans will immediately shrink back and stash their wealth into Gold: so, you can see, gold rose extremely from February to March. At that time, everyone assumed Russia would quickly defeat small Ukraine: but it turned out that until 6 months later.. it was actually Russia that got pushed back. On the other hand, NATO's embargo on Russia caused an energy crisis that raised world fuel prices: as a result, very high inflation in America and Europe. Inflation never recorded in their 40 years. The Fed, simply raised Dollar interest rates in the hope that Dollars would flow into America and lower the inflation rate. People who began to calm down with the Russia war pulled back their gold and stored it in Dollars. As a result, gold declined, the dollar strengthened. How to understand this phenomenon? Simple: fear and greed. Afraid their wealth will disappear, and greedy for their wealth to multiply without hard effort The essence of economics is just that in my opinion :DLater the complexity is in controlling and predicting macro things that happen from those two human instincts#economy #macroeconomics #gold in
#37 3 years, 11 months, 29 days ago As someone with a backend mindset, when I started growing the Remote Worker Indonesia brand, the backend mindset often got applied to marketing: detailed, long, and complete. Wrong. Haha. Marketing with high engagement right now is funny and short "retjeh" videos. An example of a reel that made RWID go from 4K to 10K :D https://lnkd.in/g9vqsh7A#marketing #digitalmarketing #instagrammarketing in
